R&D Manager

The R&D Manager will drive and coordinate R&D activities and resources in developing an in-house line of electrical components. Major duties include: 

  • Translates business strategy and opportunities into R&D strategy and priorities      
  •  Assesses external environment and develop recommendations accordingly; identifies opportunities for Company technological leadership (e.g. Smart Platform products)   
  • Leads day-to-day R&D program efforts, including specifications development, high level design layout, detailed circuit design, bill of materials development, and sub-component sourcing activities
  • Provides technical leadership to direct and manage electrical component product development programs
  • Drives pre-feasibility, design (preliminary & detailed), manufacturing (e.g. “make vs. buy”) and commercialization strategies
  • Acts as program “project manager”:  develops and communicates milestones, manages to cost budget, etc
  • Identifies opportunities for partnerships
  • Updates business cases of projects, including investments, projected revenues, projected cost structure, and ROI
  • Leads the approval process with MSHA and other regulatory authorities
  • Develops supply chain relationships pursuant to development of individual prototypes and mass production
  • Oversees field testing and works with customers to get early feedback

Cost Estimator

As a Cost Estimator, you will be focused on the preparation of profitable bid proposal estimates for electrical distribution and power equipment bids and project proposals. Major duties include: 

  • Develop specific project cost estimates in response to RFQs/leads, including developing/clarifying specifications and drawings to determine scope of work, bills of materials, construction methodology, and estimated cost
  • Determine feasibility and match with IE capabilities for incoming leads/opportunities. Assess IE ability to meet RFP dates/deadlines, specifications, methodologies, and cost hurdles, and help screen out low-fit leads
  • Estimate labor hours and material costs for engineering and manufacturing tasks in support of company bid proposals.
  • Perform conceptual estimates at times when detailed design information is not yet available. Interface directly with customers to clarify needs and ensure accurate and timely costing
  • Ensure proposals meet company and regional financial goals, and acceptability of project contractual requirements.
  • Interface with Project Managers, Sales, Business Development, Engineering, Procurement, and Program Management to clarify customer requirements and tailor design and quote to specific needs
  • Coordinate with the production team on successful bids to provide a thorough transition to the project team
  • Maintains an open line of communication with customers and sales account managers in order to ensure that the customer receives a quotation that is both economical and meets the technical requirements of the project

Electrical Technician

As an Electrical Technician, you will repair, install, modify and troubleshoot electrical distribution and control equipment. Major duties include:

  • Wire and install electrical components, switch gear, electrical switches and electronic instruments and devices, such as: programmable logic controllers (PLCs), data loggers, relays, breakers and other electronic instrumentation equipment used in the manufacture and repair of electrical power stations and equipment
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and make necessary repairs
  • Conduct electrical testing and recommend or initiate modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards
  • Work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal instructions
  • Determine reparability and cost to repair equipment, refurbish equipment and, replace defective parts

Welder/Fabricator

Major responsibilities include:

  • Set-up, lay-out, tack-up and weld sheet metal in constructing custom electrical distribution buildings, strucutres, parts and components
  • Ability to weld out precision frames to exact tolerances
  • Read and understand bending details and design diagrams
  • Understand layout and plans sequence of operations
  • Set up and safely operate fabricating machines such as breaks, shears, flame cutters, grinder, iron worker, drill press, and laser cutter
  • Verify conformance of work piece to specifications and quality standards
  • Move parts and heavy frames on and off machinery
  • Use overhead crane in a safe manner
  • Safely drive and operate a forklift as necessary

Field Support Technician

As a Field Support Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing and servicing of surface and underground mining equipment, e.g. longwall, switchgear, electrical switches, programmable process controllers, variable frequency drives, relays, breakers, data loggers, reduced voltage starters, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and other electronic instrumentation equipment. Major duties include:    

  •  Troubleshoot electrical distribution equipment to resolve electrical/mechanical field issues and make necessary
  • Conduct electrical testing and recommend or initiate modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards
  • Plans and records periodic electrical testing, and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards
  • Checks functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions
  • Work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal instructions
  • Adjust, calibrate, align, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance
  • The Field Support  Technician will work with the local Sales Representative and Project Manager to insure positive customer response
  • The Field Support Technician is expected to gain respect from customers and grow business through personal growth in product line
