Industrial Electrical Systems
Electrical equipment for the mining industry requires unique construction and arrangement to meet the harsh operating conditions and specific regulations and standards for underground and surface mines. Intermountain Electronics has the knowledge, experience and capabilities to provide the equipment necessary to meet these rigorous requirements. We can build completely new or reconditioned electrical equipment as well as repair or modify existing equipment utilizing our extensive knowledge and experience of technical and operational requirements of these applications.
Intermountain Electronics ensures that the equipment we provide operates efficiently and safely while still being user-friendly for the individuals who operate and maintain it. We work closely with our customers to verify that there is compliance with the appropriate standards and regulations.
Substations
Substations are used to transform utility or generator supplied electrical power to the required voltage and protective arrangement for a specific application. These substations can be arranged as a permanent conventional design with individual stand-alone components, in a pre-assembled skid-mounted design or any desired combination.
Intermountain Electronics has full metal fabrication capabilities for design and assembly of steel structures for supporting bus, switches, arrestors, insulators, etc. as required for open designs. We also design and build steel buildings or enclosures for switchgear in indoor, outdoor, or walk-in arrangements. These substations can be skid-mounted in a durable, heavy-duty design for portability and versatility in relocating by skidding or trucking to various locations. Our fixed and portable substations have been operating for years in harsh mining environments ranging from the extreme heat and blowing sand of the Mojave Desert, the frigid temperatures, snow and ice of the U.S. Continental Divide, the jungles of Nicaragua, and the extremes of the high altitude Andes Mountains in Chile.

Switchgear
Switchgear are generally used for the distribution of low to medium voltage electrical systems.
Intermountain Electronics can design and fabricate switchgear to meet the specific requirements of customers in nearly any application. We have integrated components from most of the major manufacturers to provide the customized packages needed to meet various specifications. Switchgear can be arranged for indoor or outdoor service, as well as in walk-in buildings that we fabricate and assemble in our facilities. We have purchasing arrangements with most manufacturers that allow us to provide extremely competitive pricing. Furthermore, we generally can assemble switchgear more quickly than the major manufacturers, if timing is critical.

Motor Control Centers
Motor Control Centers (MCC’s) are an arrangement of motor starters, breakers and ancillary components assembled in vertical sections which extend side-by-side to variable widths. These units provide protection to motor circuits at low and medium voltages. Each application is custom arranged to suit the specific requirements for a given set of loads.
Intermountain Electronics can design the appropriate combination of components to properly protect your required circuits. These units can also be designed for indoor or outdoor settings or placed in a custom Electrical Control Room that we can manufacture in our facilities.
