Intermountain Electronics maintains a world-class repair facility for the rebuild or repair of a variety of electronic and electrical components. This service can typically save the customer 75% - 80% of the replacement cost of a new component. We can analyze, test, and repair either full assemblies or individual components. All the replacement parts are OEM specified or approved by the manufacture, with no variation. Our repair technicians at Intermountain Electronics have MSHA certifications, factory authorized training and up to 30 years of experience working on either electrical equipment or electronic equipment.

Lighting Systems

The main use of mine lighting systems is to provide adequate illumination around mining equipment to provide a safe work environment. Intermountain Electronics can provide a cost-effective repair on a variety of explosion proof, intrinsically safe or open type lighting systems in compliance with regulatory standards.

These types of systems are used in a wide variety of applications but the main purpose for mining applications is either for belt drive systems or unmanned equipment, where there are fewer personnel maintaining the long distance that is required to properly maintain safety.

Intermountain Electronics can assemble or repair the cables and components utilized in these systems to like new condition, using OEM parts and specifications.

There are many various types of contactors and load switches, some of which include either vacuum bottle or dry contact type, in various phases and coil voltage configurations. This item is used to either turn on or off power (high, medium, low).

Photo Sensitive Systems

These types of monitors are capable of opening doors, actuating relays, or turning valve systems on and off. They work by a light detection sensor on the component, which turns on the required power to actuate the application that the monitor is put in service for.

Intermountain Electronics will repair these items to new condition using the manufacturer specifications and OEM parts.

This is a type of device that allows personnel to continue communications during normal operation or an emergency situation within the work environment. The phones have an independent power supply in each phone, 12 V.D.C. batteries; they are either wired in a 12 V.D.C. configuration or a 24 V.D.C. configuration depending on the manufacturer.

Intermountain Electronics can economically repair these devices to ensure proper communication throughout the work place.

Ground Check Monitors

Ground monitors are used to monitor the ground wire in the power cables;
they can be either a pilot type or a tone type of monitor. The tone type
monitor uses a frequency that is sent down a pilot wire or coupled to the
phase wires of the cable and is returned back to the monitor, if the frequency
is interrupted the monitor will drop the control power. The pilot type
monitor uses voltage that is received by the monitor and if the voltage is
below or above a predetermined setting the monitor will interrupt the
control power. These monitors are required by some regulation and
recommended by others.
Intermountain Electronics can repair all types of ground check monitors for
low, medium, and high voltage applications according to the manufacturer’s
specifications using OEM parts.

This type of monitor is used with a Manufacturer Specified CT (current
transformer), when the current rises above a predetermined point the
monitor will interrupt the supply power through a breaker.
Intermountain Electronics is able to expertly repair these items to like new
condition according to the specifications from the manufacturer.

Ground Fault Relays

There are many types of breakers out on the market, many of which are
adjustable and can be calibrated. Some circuit breakers are Oil Filled,
Molded Case, Power, and Vacuum. Breakers are listed in voltage, ampere and
trip ranges. Intermountain Electronics specializes in the repair and
calibration of molded case circuit breakers used to safely interrupt electrical
circuits.
Intermountain Electronics can repair and calibrate most breakers found in
the mining and industrial applications. We also maintain a very large
inventory of reconditioned molded case circuit breakers.

Motor Speed Controls

V.F.D. (Variable Frequency Drive) is the upcoming thing in motor operations. This technique is the most effective in motor controls. We are able to design and manufacture the equipment to meet your requirements. Intermountain Electronics is also able to troubleshoot, repair and test a wide variety of these types of systems for your convenience.

These types of controls allow the personnel to continue operations of equipment in hazardous conditions at a safe distance. This equipment either operates off of a radio frequency or operates off of an umbilical cord stretched to the equipment.

Intermountain Electronics is able to perform the necessary repairs to the controls and the associated equipment, which will enable the equipment to continue running like new.

Remote Controls for Mining Equipment

Intermountain Electronics is teaming up with various other companies through factory training and authorized representation to increase the capability of safety through two-way communications. This operation uses either a leaky feeder cable or a base station. There are other options that are available with this type of system such as video transfer and data transfer, which will allow the customer to send data and video remotely to a control room. There are other systems that are available with this technology such as a tagging system, which will be able to locate personnel, pallets, trucks etc., within the underground environment.
